These were the early days of blogging. While my daughter attended Auburn University and earned her degree in Journalism, I moved to Alabama and became a licensed REALTOR® for a few years to help support her education. It was a small town vibe where connections to banks and businesses went back generations, creating somewhat of a social shield for my attempts at soliciting local clients and interested homebuyers. I had to view my work from another angle (that is sometimes an ‘angel’), and discovered the nationwide ACTIVE RAIN community of bloggers and online community builders. It turned out to be a phenomenal wave of connecting through technology, all very new at the time. I met so many amazing people in the real estate industry through my involvement for the rest of my years as a REALTOR®. It was a lot of getting to know people ‘ahead of a handshake.’ By the time I attended my first big conference (INMAN) in San Francisco, I was meeting and hugging so many people I’d never met in person, but had already developed friendships with through the Active Rain community of BLOGGERS.♡
This is one of the last posts I did in my real estate profession when I was invited by an author /speaker /mortgage broker to write a blog about Auburn, Alabama. One thing that I love today is being able to find and create images so easily. Back then it was limited, and there were very few tools to use for this.
